The oil filter is located in the engine lubrication system.  The upstream of the oil filter is the oil pump, and the downstream is the components that need lubrication in the engine.  The function of the oil filter is to filter out harmful impurities in the oil from the oil pan to supply clean oil to motion pairs such as crankshafts, connecting rods, camshafts, superchargers, piston rings and the like to lubricate, cool and clean, thus prolonging the service life of these parts.
